લોક એટલે શુંWhat the lok is

The lok is the part of space (akash) in which the six dravya are found: jeev, pudgal, dharmastikay, adharmastikay, akash and kaal. Beyond it lies the endless alok, which is empty space alone. No one made the lok and it will never end; it is eternal.

આકારIts shape

The lok is shaped like a person standing with feet apart and hands on the waist (purushakar). It is 14 rajlok tall: 7 raju wide at the bottom, narrowing to 1 raju at the middle, widening again to 5 raju at Brahmalok, and 1 raju at the top. A raju is a distance beyond counting in yojan.

ત્રણ ભાગThe three parts

Adho lok, the lower part, holds the seven narak bhumis. Madhya lok, a thin layer in the middle, holds the dweeps and samudras where humans and animals live. Urdhva lok, the upper part, holds the devlok of the vaimanik devs.

ત્રસ નાડીThe tras nadi

Through the middle of the lok runs a column 1 raju wide and 14 rajlok tall, the tras nadi. Beings with two to five senses (tras jeev) live only within it; one-sensed beings (sthavar) are found throughout the lok.

સિદ્ધશિલાSiddhashila

At the top of the lok is Siddhashila, 45 lakh yojan across, the same width as the Adhai dweep where humans live. Above it, at the very edge of the lok, the siddha bhagwants dwell for ever in infinite knowledge and bliss.
