Story
અગ્નિમાં નાગ-નાગણThe snake pair in the fire
As a young prince, Parshva Kumar went to see the tapasvi Kamath, who sat doing panchagni tap among burning logs. With his avadhigyan the prince saw that a pair of snakes was burning inside one log. He had the log taken out and split open, and as the dying snakes lay there, they heard the Navkar Mantra from him. Through it they were reborn as Dharanendra, the Indra of the Nagkumar devs, and Padmavati Devi.
વરસાદનો ઉપસર્ગThe rain upasarg
Kamath, angry at being shown up, was reborn as the dev Meghmali. When Parshvanath, now a muni, stood in kaussagg, Meghmali poured down rain until the water rose to the Prabhu's nose. Dharanendra and Padmavati came at once: a lotus rose beneath the Prabhu and the serpent hoods spread above him like an umbrella. The Prabhu stayed equally calm towards Kamath and towards Dharanendra, and soon after attained kevalgyan.
સ્વરૂપHer form
She is usually shown with a serpent hood over her head and a small image of Shri Parshvanath above it. In the Shwetambar tradition she has four arms and rides a kukkut-sarp (a serpent with a rooster's head); what she holds, such as a lotus, a noose and a goad, differs from image to image.
પૂજાPuja
Her puja follows the puja of Shri Parshvanath Bhagwan. She is a samyagdrashti devi, honoured with respect as a protector of the sangh; vandan to the Vitrag Bhagwan always comes first. Her bhakti is done with special devotion on Shri Parshvanath's kalyanak days, above all Posh Dashmi.
