પરિચયAbout

Below the madhya lok are seven bhumis, one below the other, each wider and darker than the last. Their names describe them: Ratnaprabha (Gharma), Sharkaraprabha (Vansha), Valukaprabha (Shaila), Pankaprabha (Anjana), Dhumaprabha (Arishta), Tamahprabha (Magha) and Tamastamahprabha (Maghavati).

પહેલી ભૂમિમાં દેવોDevs in the first bhumi

The upper part of the first bhumi, Ratnaprabha, is not narak: the bhavanpati devs and the vyantar devs live there.

નરકનું જીવનLife in narak

The narak jeev suffer extreme heat or cold, hunger and thirst, and pain they cause one another; in the first three bhumis the paramadhami devs add to it. A life there lasts at least 10,000 years in the first bhumi and up to 33 sagaropam in the seventh.

શા માટે જાણવુંWhy it is taught

The shastras teach that great violence and great attachment to possessions (maha-arambh and maha-parigrah) bind the karma of a narak life. Knowing this helps us keep away from those causes and live with jayana and contentment.
